An Unexpected Visit
They'd been at it over a month now with still no sign of Dad. There had been hope once when an old acquaintance of John and Dean's called for help on another case and informed them that he found Sam's phone number by calling John's. Suddenly the phone that had given them nothing but disconnect redirects was now clicking over to voicemail in their father's voice informing people to call Sam if they needed help.
Sam had... not liked that development. Dean could understand why. Sam didn't have anything against helping people, but to have proof that their father was still out there and knew Sam was hunting... presumably knew Sam was looking for him... but, he was still staying out of communication? Dean could understand why that was upsetting. All he could do was keep trying to track the man down and hope when they did, Sam could get his answers.
They were in the middle of nowhere Illinois, Dean still recovering from his first and last airplane flight, when their hunt met with an unexpected snag. Dean walked into their motel room after sitting with Sam through his dinner to find their room occupied. A blond vampire was stretched out on Dean's bed, lounging. Inwardly, Dean started cussing colorfully while he pushed Sam as casually behind him as he could.
"Hello, Eric."

Okay, so maybe sitting and watching TV with Dean wasn't always the same as it had been, not when he was baring his neck to his brother, offering to let him bite him, but... he couldn't really complain.

He groaned softly. The effect of Sam's blood plus the alcohol in it hit fast and it was good. Really good.

His eyes trailed to the hand rested on his stomach as the other started to drink, smiling a little at that groan, letting out a soft echo of it. He was just tipsy enough to not care about the noise or resist brushing his hand up Dean's arm before resting it on his shoulder. He curled in a little, just holding on because it felt a little more comfortable to do that than lay there like a ragdoll or something. Besides, he was just tipsy enough now to not worry about being too touchy-feely.

The sound and the touch didn't bother him. Sam was warm and made his skin that much warmer when his hand brushed along Dean's arm. He sighed pleasantly when Sam curled in, pleased to feel him relaxed and actually enjoying himself a little. It was good to know this wasn't awful for him.

He let his hand rest against the other's shoulder, just let it stayed there when he felt that warm breath against his skin when Dean sighed. He still... had questions, about this... about his blood, but that could be brought up later.
Right now, it was actually kind of a relief to relax and just focus on something else for a few minutes. Dean's weight against him, the way his skin was warming up because of him...

Some nights, he only took enough to just take the edge off the hunger. Tonight, he let himself drink a while, but he would take care to keep well away from the point where Sam would feel sick or uncomfortable from it.

He didn't know if he was enjoying this because of the comfort of having Dean close by, the guy who always had his back, or because he'd had some of his brother's blood and it was still doing a lot of fucked up crap to how he felt about him, but either way? He wasn't going to pick it apart. not tonight. Even at the twinge of guilt that maybe he shouldn't be relaxing on a case, while looking for dad, while Jessica was in the ground because of him. He let his eyes drift shut for a moment, holding a little tighter to Dean for a moment.
"Dean..." The name rolled off his tongue eventually, shifting a little against him when Dean had had quite a bit from him. Sam trusted Dean, of course, but he didn't want to be too weak or fatigued tomorrow because he'd let his brother take a little too much.

He pulled back and rested back against the pillows, nodding. "Much. Warm. Comfortable."

"Yup!" He answered cheerfully. Looked up and gave Sam a loopy smile. "Y'okay?"

His lips curled up into a broader smile. "Dude, you're kinda drunk, aren't you?" And that was amusing for some reason. "Yeah, m'okay..."

He didn't mind if Sam dozed off. Dean figured he'd end up over here beside him later, anyway, when the nightmares started up. Might as well make it easy on them both.

For right now, he was... maybe not happy, but okay. He didn't get very many 'okay' moments anymore, so he'd take them any way he could. Besides, tomorrow, it'd be back to business, back to the job and back to hunting Dad down for answers, back to thinking about Jess and how he'd let her down.
